De workshop in detail
Experience the enchanting world of bees!
Upon arriving at the workshop location, you'll receive a warm welcome from Hubert and his team. The session will kick off with a theoretical introduction to beekeeping, covering topics like hive functioning, seasonal aspects, types of insects, and their roles – everything you need to know about bees!
Afterwards, it's time to gear up in beekeeping suits for the exciting second part of the workshop: a guided tour of the beehives! The skilled artisans will lead you through the discovery of these fascinating structures, offering behind-the-scenes insights, including the opportunity to open one of the hives.
The workshop will conclude with a delightful tasting of honey and other bee products – a truly indulgent moment!
You'll leave with a wealth of knowledge about bees and a strong desire to protect them in your daily life.
NB: For this workshop, we recommend dressing appropriately with long-sleeved tops, long pants, and closed-toe shoes.

During this workshop, you'll be outdoors, in close contact with the bees! It is, therefore, highly recommended to bring a water bottle per person and dress accordingly: long-sleeved tops, long trousers and closed-toe shoes.
Ontmoet Hubert & co
Imker
Hubert had een zeer gelukkige en tevreden jeugd op het platteland. Later, toen hij voor zijn studie naar de stad verhuisde, besefte hij hoezeer de mensen van de natuur afgesneden zijn. Het was een schok en toen ook het begin van een roeping!
Gedurende een tiental jaren werkte hij als opvoeder in scholen. Toen besloot hij terug te keren naar de bron van zijn geluk: het contact met de natuur. In die tijd bekeerde hij zich tot de bijenteelt en volgde een opleiding tot imker. Daarna startte hij zijn huidige activiteit, die hem in staat stelt zijn twee passies te combineren: onderwijs en bijenteelt. Vandaag bezit hij twee bijenkorven: één in Ukkel en één in Jumet.
Zijn wens is nu om iedereen weer in contact te brengen met de natuur en mensen bewust te maken van de toestand van de bijen. Maar wat hij het liefst doet, is zijn passie en zijn ecologische aanpak delen! Met veel aandacht, pedagogie en humor zal hij u kunnen onderdompelen in zijn vak!

Seriously weird and cool workshop, nothing like seeing thousands of bees working to get an appreciation for honey. Instructor was very friendly and knowledgeable. Can very much recommend!
