Michel will welcome you in his studio for a few hours of initiation to woodworking, in particular to half-wood assembly.

The discovery of the place, some theoretical bases on woodworking and the tools used will start the session, you will go from the raw material to the finished product and discover truing, planing, tracing, sawing, notching and gluing.

After a brief presentation of traditional wood assemblies (mortise and tenon, half-wood, straight tail, dovetail, etc.), it will be your turn to play!

You will learn how to trace your assemblies, the key to precision, and then how to cut them with a saw and chisel because yes, everything is done by hand! It is by repeating the gestures that you will learn to master them with the necessary rigour.

You will leave this workshop with new knowledge, but also with a beautiful wooden trivet.

Passionnante initiation par un passionné du bois et de Bruxelles.

Net een atelier 'Wood Blending' achter de rug. Een Wecandoo-kadobon opgebruikt. Het ging door bij een ebenist in de Brusselse Hoogstraat 77. Met vijf deelnemers. Nu nog meer respect voor houtbewerkers, zeker die van vroeger. Geduld vereist (want je moet de sergeanten altijd verplaatsen) en precisie in het zagen (halve millimeter is belangrijk) en met de beitel werken is zeer leuk. Zeker als het in één keer lukt om dwars op de vezel het stukje te verwijderen👌. De nodige uitleg en historische feiten waren erbij en het nam ons vier uur voor dit resultaat. Het is gelukt, vier houtverbindingen! 👀 Met nog enkele blokjes erbij is het een onderzetter 😁 Wel gesloopt door zo lang rechtstaan en die sergeanten zijn mijn vriend niet. Maar de beitel ga ik nog gebruiken, ik weet nu hoe.

Tres chouette expérience. On apprend énormément . Un peu difficile si vous êtes comme moi pas tres habile, mais c'est d'autant plus intéressant car c'est un défi! On a passé un super moment et la on a les outils de base a la maison pour continuer !!

Très chouette atelier avec Michel. Il a bien pris le temps de nous apprendre les premières bases du travail manuel du bois (scie, ciseaux, sens de travail du bois selon les fibres, comment éviter ou rattraper des erreurs, comment manier certains outils,...) afin d'avancer dans notre ouvrage. En plus de cela il nous a expliqué plusieurs anecdotes sur les essences de bois, l'évolution des outils de menuiserie, son atelier,... Le temps est passé trop vite 😉 Pour les plus aguerris il est possible d'aller plus loin et réaliser d'autres branches au sous-plat. Merci !
