Discover an ancient art and forge your own straight knife with blacksmith Robin!

Join Robin for two consecutive days of initiation to the world of forging and cutlery. Under the guidance of an experienced knife maker, you will craft your own custom-made knife from scratch, entirely by hand.

On the two days, remember to bring your own lunch that you will eat while spending a privileged moment with the knifemaker.

Robin will start by giving you a tour of his workshop and introducing you to the materials and tools used, such as the hammer, anvil and forge, as well as the safety rules to be respected. You will then choose the shape of your blade and handle from a variety of existing models to learn the basic techniques of forging and cutlery.

Next, you will be introduced to the first gestures of a knifemaker by shaping the metal and tempering the blade. Here, you will learn all about the properties of steel and how it reacts to heat or the strike of a hammer.

Finally, you will sharpen your knife and proudly take home a one-of-a-kind creation, full of emotion and memories of this two-day workshop.

This is an opportunity not to be missed to learn an ancient skill!

The workshop price includes all days as described. Bookings on Wecandoo only schedule the first session; subsequent sessions must be arranged directly with the craftsman. Consecutive days will automatically follow the first booked day.

J'ai offert cet atelier à mon compagnon qui est passionné de coutellerie et qui rêvait de forger son premier couteau ! Le tout premier point fort de cet atelier selon lui, c'est que chacun a dessiné le couteau qu'il avait envie de forger ! Pas de modèle imposé et respect des envies de chacun. Ensuite Robin leur a donné à chacun les clés pour pouvoir réaliser leur souhait en tenant compte de leurs envies, leur expérience, ... Il a ensuite pu réaliser toutes les étapes de fabrication de son couteau avec les explication théorique à relier à la technique. Il est enchanté de cette expérience ! Best christmas gift ever <3
