  • Welcome to the captivating world of accessories with Jo, an esteemed artisan renowned for her expertise in creating unique headwear and accessories. In this immersive workshop, you'll embark on a creative journey where natural latex rubber takes centre stage.

Over the course of 2.5 hours, Jo will guide you through the process of crafting a one-of-a-kind rubber purse. Throughout the session, you'll have the opportunity to explore various techniques such as hand moulding, edge binding, lining and machine stitching.

You’ll create a pattern and draw this onto woven cotton, which provides the support structure for the final creation. This will then be affixed to a natural rubber ‘skin’ – a sheet material developed by and unique to the studio.

After allowing the assembled materials to cure, you'll carefully cut out the pattern, refine the edges, and integrate a zip for secure closure.

Utilising an industrial sewing machine, you'll stitch the components together, creating a seamless and professional result.

After the base purse is formed you’ll hand mould and sculpt the final shape in response to your own hand. Once you have created a shape you are happy with, Jo will show you how to secure the form so that it retains the memory of this shape.

With meticulous attention to detail, you’ll cut and fit a lining. A final touch of surface polishing will bestow a lustrous sheen upon your piece. Throughout the workshop, Jo will teach you about the properties of natural latex rubber and provide valuable aftercare advice.

Guided by Jo, immerse yourself in the captivating world of accessories as you create a tactile natural rubber purse, crafted and moulded by your own touch to fit not only your personal style but also your hand.
