  • Join Harriet, a passionate ceramist, for a workshop where you will learn how to create a beautiful marbled ceramic plant pot. Harriet will share her unique techniques developed over the past three years, including Nerikomi-inspired methods for creating stunning marbled patterns in clay.

The workshop begins with an introduction to hand building where you will learn the basics of working with clay using simple ceramic tools such as carving tools, rib tools, moulds and rollers. Harriet will guide you through the process of slab building and demonstrate how to create intricate marbling effects by combining two coloured clays.

You'll then get hands-on experience of using moulds to shape your ceramic pieces, followed by a session on finishing techniques to ensure your plant pot is ready for bisque firing. Throughout the workshop you will have the opportunity to explore the art of marbling clay and discover how to personalise your creation with unique patterns.

Your creations will be bisque fired and available to collect from the studio within 2-3 weeks or can be despatched at an additional cost. Please note that this is not a general introduction to clay, but an insight into an artist's specific practice through a guided workshop.

Designed to encourage creative flow and connection, this session is suitable for all levels of experience, including complete beginners.

Join Harriet for a creative session and take home a beautiful marbled ceramic plant pot!

    Ontmoet Harriet

    Ceramist

Meet Harriet, a dedicated ceramist who discovered their passion for clay during a life sculpture class. Since 2016, they have been exploring different techniques, especially nerikomi with coloured clay. In 2020, Harriet began incorporating plants into their creations, creating beautiful clay homes for them. For them, ceramics is a way to connect with our senses and creativity.

Harriet studied architecture for seven years and anthropology for three, which influenced their interest in building with clay and using art to connect with others. they have attended many ceramics evening classes and have been teaching ceramics for three years.

Their approach focuses on creating perfectly imperfect pots that show the marks of their maker. They enjoy the marbling of the clay and see it as a collaboration between the clay and the artist.

Harriet has reached significant milestones, acquiring their first studio and starting their first artist-in-residence project. They have also taught in a variety of settings, from a plant shop to a community ceramics studio and now in their own studio.

Harriet runs workshops to share the joy of working with clay and to help others connect with their creativity. Their workshops are designed for all skill levels and offer a hands-on, sensory experience.

Join Harriet for a workshop and learn to create your own ceramic pieces while discovering the joy of working with clay !
