per personThe workshop in detail
This one-day workshop will allow you to develop your technique and explore new forms of creation under Septy's personal guidance.
The day begins with a reminder of the basics of spun glass: glass composition, types of sticks used, how the torch works and a presentation of the tools. You will quickly move on to practical work with molten coloured glass. The aim of this first phase is to create twisted threads in two or three colours, which you will then use in your creations.
In the second phase, you will use these techniques to decorate several beads. You'll learn to vary shapes, play with contrasts and create small decorative elements such as glass leaves. These elements can be reused to create a piece of jewellery or a more complex composition.
The afternoon will be devoted to an introduction to glassblowing with a blowtorch. You'll learn how to use Pyrex tubes, how to make a small bubble decorated with glass threads and how to blow it into a light piece, such as a flower or a Christmas bauble.
Throughout the day, Septy will guide and advise you according to your level, in a relaxed atmosphere conducive to concentration. You'll leave with unique pieces and new skills to continue your exploration of blown glass!

Artisan Verrier
Septy has been working as a glassblower since the early 2000s. After three years of training at the Centre Européen de Recherche et de Formation aux Arts Verriers, he graduated as a master glassmaker. He then spent five years travelling around Europe as a journeyman glassmaker, gaining experience and meeting new people.
He is now based at the Abbaye du Rouge-Cloître in Brussels, where he works with flame-worked glass. He mainly makes beads, jewellery and spun glass sculptures. He has developed precise skills in glass lacemaking, a technique that requires rigour and patience. His creations deal with themes related to beliefs, be they religious, political or philosophical.
Recognised in his field, he has presented his work in a number of exhibitions, including the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nancy. During the demonstrations, workshops and events he leads, he takes the time to explain the steps involved in working with glass, the techniques he uses and the challenges of his profession.
For him, this craft is also a way to concentrate, to escape from everyday life and to pass on technical know-how in a clear and educational way.
