per personThe workshop in detail
Take part in a flame-throwing workshop with Septy, the artisan glassblower. This workshop will introduce you to a precise and accessible craft technique while you make your own creations.
The workshop starts with a presentation of the equipment and safety instructions. You will then get to grips with the torch and the coloured glass sticks. Septy will accompany you as you learn to spin the glass, i.e. to stretch and shape it under the effect of heat. You will make one or two beads, choosing the colours you like. You can also add motifs directly onto the hot glass to personalise your creation.
In the second part of the workshop, you will discover the technique of glassblowing. This stage allows you to create a larger piece, such as a blown flower or Christmas ball. Septy will guide you through the process, adapting her gestures and explanations to your own pace.
Accessible to all, this workshop is a great way to discover, concentrate and create with your hands, whether you're a beginner or just curious. Come away with your own unique pieces!
Workshop location
The workshop is accessible by public transport from Brussels.

Artisan Verrier
Septy has been working as a glassblower since the early 2000s. After three years of training at the Centre Européen de Recherche et de Formation aux Arts Verriers, he graduated as a master glassmaker. He then spent five years travelling around Europe as a journeyman glassmaker, gaining experience and meeting new people.
He is now based at the Abbaye du Rouge-Cloître in Brussels, where he works with flame-worked glass. He mainly makes beads, jewellery and spun glass sculptures. He has developed precise skills in glass lacemaking, a technique that requires rigour and patience. His creations deal with themes related to beliefs, be they religious, political or philosophical.
Recognised in his field, he has presented his work in a number of exhibitions, including the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nancy. During the demonstrations, workshops and events he leads, he takes the time to explain the steps involved in working with glass, the techniques he uses and the challenges of his profession.
For him, this craft is also a way to concentrate, to escape from everyday life and to pass on technical know-how in a clear and educational way.
