The workshop in detail
Initiate yourself to woodcarving with Michel, a passionate woodworker.
The discovery of the area, some theoretical bases on woodworking and the tools used will start the session, you will go from the raw material to the finished product
You will learn how to handle saws, gouges, rasps and glass paper to make a pair of serving pieces. You will start by cutting them with a scroll saw, manual or electric, after a short test on scraps...
You will discover the importance of the grain of the wood, the direction of the stroke when cutting and understand the importance of all your gestures in working with wood, guided in the use of a few tools so that your spoon takes shape in your hands, chip by chip.
You will leave this workshop with new knowledge, but also with a beautiful spoon that you will be proud to use every day.

Meet Michel
Carpenter Woodworker
Michel has been living in the heart of the Marolles neighbourhood since 1979 and is passionate about wood!
He creates original custom-made pieces, and creates or repairs furniture by putting his heart into his work.
Michel's experience and extensive knowledge allow him to sublimate wood: cabinetmaking, carpentry, sculpture, turning... He has more than one string to his bow to give life to splendid furniture and objects!
This outstanding woodworker is a fervent defender of local trade! He is committed to promoting small shops and improving life in his neighbourhood. He is involved in the Association of merchants and the Association of the Bruegel Marolles neighbourhood, which manages various activities for commercial promotion, street decoration and folklore.
Cheerful and passionate, Michel has been welcoming young apprentices for years to train them in the trade. Sharing his knowledge and passion has been part of his daily life for a long time.

Super atelier avec Michel, le petit groupe permet de bien s'initier aux techniques. Et surtout on prend le temps de prendre le temps!

Super atelier et super artisan. Michel prend le temps et se met au rythme de chacun. C’est extrêmement plaisant de rentrer chez soi avec un objet abouti et (presque) parfait

Plus : Michel est très pédagogue, on a passé un super moment au contact du bois, franchement on se prend complétement au jeu et les 3 heures files sans qu'on s'en rende compte en parallèle de l'évolution de notre cuillère, juste incroyable :) Moins : trop court !!! Franchement on y serait encore bien restés 3h de plus tellement c'est agréable et réjouissant de travailler cette pièce de bois !

J'ai passé un excellent moment à réaliser ma cuillère en bois . Michel est très pédagogue et passionné. Il nous transmet son amour pour le bois par plein d'explication et d'encouragements! Merci Michel pour ce partage ! Je reviendrai pour faire une deuxième cuillère et pour faire une planche.

Un super moment partagé en famille ! Quelle surprise de découvrir un lieu si grand au cœur des Marolles ! Michel est plein de savoir-faire, de patience et de pédagogie ! Nous avons bien ri pendant tout l'après-midi, et le potager en permaculture sur le toit de son bâtiment était très impressionnant ! Nous repartons ravis de l'atelier et de la rencontre avec Michel ! Un atelier découverte super chouette. Michel est très sympathique et pédagogue, il aime son métier et ça se ressent ! On est arrivé sans aucune connaissance du travail du bois et on est reparti avec des cuillères en bois, loin d'être parfaite mais faites par nous-même à la main, ce qui est très satisfaisant. Je recommande chaudement cet atelier !

Accueillie au centre de Bruxelles dans un petit magasin d'ébénisterie par Michel dans son atelier, c'était vraiment une expérience découverte géniale. Michel est chaleureux, joyeux et passionné : il nous met directement à l'aise. Sans aucune connaissance au préalable, il nous montre comment fonctionne sa machine, nous propose de choisir une essence de bois et c'est parti, on sculpte notre spatule. Je recommande vivement à tous les curieux.

Très chouette atelier avec Michel qui montre, explique et guide patiemment. On se rend bien compte de l'expérience qu'il faut acquérir pour réaliser des objets en bois, même petits. Je ne me sens pas spécialement douée, mais j'ai passé un agréable moment et je n'ai pas vu le temps passer.
