Discover ceramic modelling with Marileen

Marileen welcomes you into her studio for an introduction to hand-building with clay!

During this session, you’ll be guided step by step through the fundamental techniques of ceramic modelling. The workshop will begin with a clear and simple overview of how a ceramic piece is made, helping you understand the key stages before getting hands-on.

Marileen will then introduce you to three main hand-building techniques: pinching, coiling and pressing. Each method will be demonstrated and then put into practice. You’ll have the chance to create a small bowl using the pinching method, a second one using coils, and a plate by pressing clay into a mould.

At the end of the session, you’ll choose your favourite piece. Marileen will then glaze and fire it in her kiln. Your finished creation will be ready to collect approximately four to six weeks later.



Note : the workshop is held in a bright and welcoming space, with a terrace that allows for outdoor working when the weather is nice. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and all materials are provided in a well-organised setting.

Note : Refreshments such as tea and coffee will be offered during the session to make the experience even more enjoyable.
