Your beautiful butter crock to take home

per personThe workshop in detail
Open the doors to Cécile's studio and discover the art of pottery!
After a warm welcome, she will explain the basics of ceramics theory, including the types of clay used, tools and techniques, and the principle of two firings. Here, you will have the opportunity to create a water butter dish, a must-have for storing butter outside of the fridge and a great alternative to plastic containers. When water is added to the dish, it prevents the butter from becoming rancid while maintaining its soft texture.
You will then get your hands dirty as you prepare the clay for moulding, removing any air bubbles that could affect the final product. You will have the choice between two techniques for shaping the clay: pinching or coiling. Gradually, you will see your water butter dish take form, consisting of a simple bowl and a smaller bowl with a lid.
Once you've added the finishing touches, you'll hand over your creation to Cécile, who will take care of the drying, firing, and glazing. She may ask for your assistance in cleaning the equipment.
Finally, you'll coordinate with Cécile to recover your finished piece. You'll leave with a beautiful water butter dish that will enhance your table setting and satisfy your taste buds!
This workshop is offered simultaneously in French, English, and Dutch. Cécile will adjust the language used during the workshop to accommodate the participants present.
Workshop location
Cécile's studio is located in the Strombeek-Bever district and can be reached by bus.
