The workshop in detail

  • Join ceramist Ann for a day of pottery and pizza making on the beautiful polders!

Experience the magic of creating your own beautiful pottery with the Raku technique in this one-of-a-kind workshop. In this 4.5 hour long workshop, you create two unique bowls using the ancient Japanese pottery technique called Raku.

During the first half of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to build two stunning bowls. Experienced artisan Ann will guide you through the process of molding and shaping the clay. Once your bowls are finished, they will be baked in the Raku style by the expert ceramist.

While your creations bake in the oven for 2 hours, you will be treated to a delicious handmade pizza lunch, made with fresh and locally-sourced ingredients. You will roll out the pizza dough, chop fresh vegetables before sitting down to enjoy the picturesque views of the polders with your homemade pizza.

Enjoy a peaceful digestive walk around the farm to connect with nature and the goats. You can also savor a refreshing "prosper" beer from the bar.

Next, Ann will guide you as you will remove your bowls from the oven (1000°C). The cold shock causes the glaze to crack, the bowls are then set in sawdust. This ignites and smoke migrates into the cracks in the bowl. This results in the typical raku drawing.

At the end of the day, you will leave with your two beautiful Raku bowls, as well as the memories of a fun and fulfilling experience that you will never forget. Don't miss out on this opportunity to unleash your inner artist and enjoy a delicious meal in the scenic beauty of the polders.
