Meet Clarisse.
Vigneron
Clarisse welcomes you to Château de la Selve, a family-run estate with a rich history and a strong commitment to sustainable practices today. Originally a fortified house on the borders of the Empire and later the Kingdom of France, then a hunting lodge for the Dukes of Joyeuse and an agricultural estate, the site became a wine estate in the early 2000s, when the family decided to revive vine growing.
Since 2002, 40 hectares of vineyards have been farmed organically and biodynamically, without pesticides or chemical inputs. Trained in the wine trade, Clarisse is now in charge of the estate and, together with her team, carries a vision rooted in respect for the land and the living world.
Today, Château de la Selve covers 44 hectares and produces 9 cuvées under the IGP Coteaux de l’Ardèche, organised into three ranges – Les Domaines, Les Terroirs and Les Confidentielles – using five grape varieties: cinsault, syrah, grenache, cabernet sauvignon and viognier. A permanent team of seven people, supported by seasonal workers, ensures the daily running of the estate.
Set in the heart of the Ardèche garrigue, the vineyards benefit from a contrasting climate, ancient clay-limestone soils and a terroir with great potential. In the cellar, a low-intervention approach is favoured, allowing the wines to develop naturally and express the minerality and finesse of the terroir. Through its commitment to wine tourism, the estate now shares its expertise and passion with visitors, offering an authentic insight into sustainable viticulture.
