Immerse yourself in the world of ceramics for a day and make your own vase bag with Anne, a passionate ceramist.
The day starts with a warm welcome, followed by a tour of the workshop where Anne will share her background and expertise. You'll learn about ceramics, the different types of clay and the main techniques used to shape the material.
After an introduction to the day's activities, you will choose the shape of your vase bag from two models on offer and the colour palette from a selection of 15 shades of slip.
Anne will guide you through the creation of your piece using the plate technique. You will place a pattern on the clay to mark the contours and cut out the various elements to be assembled. To personalise your creation, you can add decorative details such as bows, buttons or ceramic thread.
There will be a one hour lunch break while the plates dry. You can bring your own lunch, heat it up on site or take advantage of the nearby shops.
The afternoon will be spent smoothing and assembling the slabs to give shape to your vase bag. Finally, you'll apply engobes to personalise your creation with the colours you've chosen.
At the end of the workshop your vase bag will be left to dry and then fired by Anne in her workshop. You'll be able to pick it up when it's ready and enjoy a unique piece!
