In this workshop Anne will help you make two ceramic candlesticks and introduce you to the basic techniques of modelling and decoration.
The workshop begins with a presentation of Anne's studio and her background in ceramics. You'll learn about the different types of clay, the modelling techniques used and the steps involved in making a ceramic object.
You will then choose the shape of your candleholders by combining different geometric shapes. Anne will explain how to shape the different pieces of stoneware, how to hollow them out to avoid air bubbles and how to assemble them.
Once the shapes have been made, you will apply the colour using engobes under Anne's guidance to achieve the desired effect.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have made two candleholders: a simple one to familiarise yourself with the technique, and a more elaborate one made up of several assembled elements. After Anne has dried and fired them, your candleholders will be ready for collection!
Workshop location
The workshop is next to the ‘Saint-Denis’ bus stop, opposite the Square Clara Zetkin.
