The workshop begins with an introduction to Michela and her brand, setting the scene for a hands-on hat-making experience. You'll have the opportunity to choose your own fabric to ensure your hat reflects your personal style.

Next, you'll learn how to accurately measure your head size to ensure the perfect fit. With pattern in hand, you'll cut out the pieces needed to bring your bucket hat to life.

Sewing enthusiasts will love the step-by-step sewing process, guided by Michela's expert instructions. From stitching the pieces together to creating the trim, you'll see fabric transformed into fashion.

Finally, as you assemble all the components of your bucket hat, you'll feel a sense of pride and accomplishment knowing you've created something truly unique.

    Meet Michela

    Milliner

Originally from Italy, Michela pursued her passion for fashion design by studying in both Italy and the UK. In 2015, she made the bold decision to relocate to London.

During her time in the UK, Michela had the incredible opportunity to study under the guidance of esteemed milliner Rose Cory MBE, honing her skills and refining her craft. With her new-found expertise, Michela embarked on a journey of collaboration with some of the biggest names in fashion, including Misa Harada, Mackintosh and Lock & Co. Her exceptional talent caught the attention of celebrities and even members of the British Royal Family.

With a decade of experience under her belt, Michela decided to take her passion to the next level by launching her own handmade fashion label, "Laughter in the rain". Through a successful Kickstarter campaign, she garnered support for her vision of combining style with sustainability. Inspired by her multicultural background and diverse influences, Michela's designs are a true reflection of her unique perspective and innovative approach to fashion.

From elegant hats to stunning gowns, Michela's creations are characterised by impeccable craftsmanship and timeless elegance. With 'Laughter in the rain', she invites you to explore a world where fashion meets sustainability, and where each piece tells a story of creativity, dedication and passion.

We thoroughly enjoyed our workshop with Michela. She had a great choice of fabrics ready for us. She was patient, took time to explain each step and was always on hand to fix a mistake or help us with a more difficult part. She even allowed us to stay a little bit past our allotted time to ensure we all left with finished hats! And there were drinks and snacks to keep us going! It was a great way to spend an afternoon and we would recommend it to anyone.
