Create your own butter dish and egg tray with Ellie

Join Ellie for a fun and creative pottery workshop where you'll learn the art of hand-building and create your own butter dish and egg tray!

Start your day with an introduction to Ellie and her studio. 

Then you'll learn the basics of throwing and moulding. Ellie will guide you through rolling the clay and allowing it to dry slightly. Using her stencils, you'll have the chance to edit and create your own unique design for a butter dish.

Next, you'll roll out the clay for your second piece, the egg tray. Again, you'll be using Ellie's templates and modifying them to suit your style. Once the clay is dry enough, you'll go back to your first piece and start assembling your butter dish. Ellie will show you how to join your creation together seamlessly.

Once assembled, it's time to get creative with the design. You can add your own personal touch with engraving and other decorative techniques. Finally, you'll have a choice of three glazes for your pieces, which Ellie will fire for you.

Your handmade creations will be ready for collection or despatch within four weeks, allowing time for proper firing and finishing. Throughout the workshop you will enjoy complimentary tea and coffee, with breaks to chat with Ellie and your fellow students.
