  • Led by Emma, an experienced artist with expertise in ceramics, stone carving and fine art, this workshop offers a hands-on approach to sculpture, focusing on technique and craftsmanship.

Begin your journey by making a skull mould, a fundamental step in sculpting. Under Emma's guidance, you'll learn about ecorche, a method of sculpting muscles from the skeleton upwards, and gain practical skills that form the basis of classical sculpting techniques.

As the workshop progresses, you'll study the anatomy of the human face, identifying muscles and modelling them in clay. Emma will show you how to add realistic features such as skin texture, lips, nose and eyes, guiding you through each step with clear instructions and demonstrations.

Take a break half way through to recharge and network with other participants over tea. It's a chance to share experiences, ask questions and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow artists in a relaxed setting.

At the end of the workshop you'll have the opportunity to take your air-dried clay creation home with you.

Whether you're new to sculpture or want to hone your skills, Emma's workshop offers a supportive environment where you can learn, grow and create with confidence.

    Sculptor

Meet Emma, a multi-talented artist whose journey is as fascinating as her work. Emma has a BA in Ceramics and spent seven years working in television and film before completing a Masters in Fine Art.

After her time in the entertainment industry, Emma moved into stone sculpting, concentrating mainly on marble. Inspired by her studies in Australia, she became skilled in Ecorche, a method originating in Florence, Italy, where sculptures are created from the skeleton upwards.

Friendly, knowledgeable, detailed and interesting, Emma is passionate about sharing her knowledge. She runs workshops that encourage participants to explore their creativity and learn classical techniques.

Emma's workshops provide a practical platform for artistic growth and foster a community of like-minded individuals. Her commitment to sustainability and ethical practice is evident in her work and teaching.

Emma is about more than sculpting; she's about preserving tradition, nurturing talent and creating connections through art.
