The workshop in detail

  • 4d
  • 4 to 6 participants
  • 15 years min.
  • During the four sessions of the workshop, you will discover the wheel technique from top to bottom with ceramists who are as competent as they are motivated to share their daily work with you. The four sessions will take place over four weeks, each time on the same day and at the same time.

After a welcome coffee and a short presentation of their workshop, the potters will show you how to choose and prepare your clay. The team will train you in the correct position at the wheel, the art of centering the clay and you will see how to create a small cylinder.

The following week will be dedicated to learning how to centre and mount the cylinders. You will make your first pieces.

The third session will allow you to consolidate your turning skills, but also introduce you to turning and all the elements that go with it.

Finally, in the last session, the ceramists will guide you through the art of glazing.

Once your pieces are finished and glazed, the ceramists will fire them. Ceramics require two firings, so you will have to wait about a month before you can collect your beautiful creations.

This monthly apprenticeship will allow you to learn the gestures and the workings of the wheel, from every angle!

The price of the workshop includes all the days defined in the description. The reservation on the Wecandoo website allows you to schedule only the first session. All subsequent sessions must be scheduled directly with the artisan. If the days are consecutive, the next workshop will automatically take place the day after the first day booked.

    Ceramists and Turners

Elise and Manon, both graduates of a Master's degree in ceramics from ENSAV La Cambre, joined forces with a common desire to create a place for sharing and training in ceramics. They wanted to provide a shared work space, fully equipped and adaptable over time to accommodate different audiences around creative projects with a social and civic purpose.

They welcome professional ceramists who practice and teach at the Atelier des Tropiques. The team of instructors is made up of young ceramists, all of whom specialise in a particular field of expertise and are keen to share their knowledge and know-how in a friendly and caring atmosphere.

The workshop is a bright space where the view of the trees through the bay window can only inspire the participants who walk through the doors of this welcoming place.
